GTU held a seminar in memory of Prof. Vidas Kavaliuskas

The Technical University of Georgia, on Friday, held An event dedicated to the memory of Vidas Kavaliuskas. Vidas Kavaliuskas was head of the Center for Lithuanian Language, Culture and Education, linguist, and honorary doctor.

The seminar was inaugurated by the rector of the Technical University of Georgia, Davit Gurgenidze, and it was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Georgia, Andrius Kalindra. Many embassy representatives, ​​students, colleagues and friends of Vidas Kavaliuskas were also present on this special occasion.

Davit Gurgenidze, the rector of the university, thanked the guests for participation in the event. He also stated that Professor Vidas Kavaliuskas greatly contributed to the development of friendly relations between Georgia and Lithuania.

He also said that the contribution of Vidas Kavaliuskas is great not only for the successful functioning of the University Center of Lithuanian Language, Culture and Education but also for the strengthening of educational, scientific and cultural ties between both the friendly nation.
“Lithuanian Language, culture and Education Centre was given the name after the death of Vidas Kavaliuskas.

The reactor of the university further said that Today, we remember Vidas Kavaliuskas due to his great contribution to the strengthening of friendly relations between Georgia and the Republic of Lithuania.

Reactor recalled that it was due to the initiative of Vidas Kavaliuskas that the centre of the Lithuanian language, culture, and education was built on the campus of the technical university.
Centre provide the students an opportunity to learn about the history of Lithuania, its culture and customs. Notably, the Ambassador of Lithuania frequently visits this dedicated centre of the university.

Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador of Lithuania to Georgia, Andrews Kalindra, expressed his special thanks to the Technical University of Georgia, especially the rector, Davit Gurgenidze, the head of the Lithuanian Language, Culture and Education Center and the students for holding an impressive seminar in memory of Vidas Kavaliuskas.
The event also witnessed the opening ceremony of the memorial plaque of Vidas Kavaliuskas.
