Tbilisi: The Georgian agro school has invited applications for the new short term program. The students studying in grade 9 to 12 can enrol themselves in this new program.
While taking to the official Facebook page Environmental Information and Education Centre, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture shared details of course.
As per official Facebook post, “The student interested in agricultural issues who want to gain knowledge about the development of agriculture and have a desire to get involved in agricultural activities can join new agro course.”
It is worth to note that the goal of Agro-school is to promote the popularization of professions in the agricultural field. The enrolled students will have to devote 4 hours a week to learn new aspects of latest agriculture practices.
It is also to be noted that the studies at Agroschool will begin on March 4. The meetings will be held online every Tuesday and Thursday, from 16:00 to 18:00. At the same time within the framework of the school, participants will learn about agricultural issues, as well as develop critical thinking, defending their own opinions and teamwork skills and most importantly, make friends from all over the country.
Some of following topics will be taught to them on priority basis.Within the framework of the program, you will receive information on the following topics:
- Agriculture and Georgia, quality standards policy in agriculture
- Agro-tourism
- Farm management
- History of Georgian wine and wine culture
- History of finding and protecting Georgian vine varieties in Georgia
- Waste recycling
- scope of sericulture in Georgia
- Georgian traditional beekeeping
- Fruit growing and gardening
- Veterinary medicine and particularly dangerous infectious diseases of animals
- Soil science
- Climate change and its consequences
- Agro Duo sectoral associations
- Existing programs in the direction of agriculture
- Climate-smart agriculture
A variety of approaches will be used during the training, some of them are as follow:
- Discussion of real examples
- Role-playing games
- Discussions Field trips
- Visit to the National Wine Agency and the State Laboratory of Agriculture
Upon completion of the course, students will be awarded certificates and souvenirs. Notably status of an Agro-school student will be granted only to those participants who regularly attend lectures
