Tinatin Rukhadze the Minister of Culture of Georgia together with Member of Parliament of Georgia Zaza Lominadze visited Meliton Balanchivadze Opera and Ballet Theatre operating under the Ministry’s sphere of governance in Kutaisi.
The information about this visit of the minister was shared by the officials of cultural ministry on number of social media handles. The glimpses of the event have also been shared on social media handles by officials of the Georgian minister of culture and sports.
As per the official Facebook post of the Ministry “The Minister of Culture and Sports of Georgia Tinatin Rukhadze visited the Kutaisi Meliton Balanchivadze Opera and Ballet Theatre on a working visit and got acquainted with the ongoing large-scale rehabilitation works together with the theatre’s artistic director Irine Lominadze and director Zurab Oikashvili.”
It further added that during her visit to there the minister of culture was provided with detailed information about the construction process by representatives of the construction company that won the tender.
It is worth to mention that the rehabilitation works began in 2022 and will be completed in early 2025. Moreover after completion of the work the Kutaisi Opera and Ballet Theatre will have a building that meets European standards.
Tinatin Rukhadze also visited the Kutaisi Lado Meskhishvili Professional State Drama Theatre on this occasion as well. During the meeting with the artistic director Giorgi Tavadze and the members of the troupe, the Minister spoke about the current state of the theatre, challenges and ways to solve problems and promised them support from the ministry.
The Minister of Culture who is on a working visit to Kutaisi also visited the Niko Berdzenishvili Kutaisi State Historical Museum. Tinatin Rukhadze along with Deputy Director Nona Kartsidze and other employees.
The culture minister as well as the other member of visiting delegation during their visit there have viewed the museum’s unique collection and got acquainted with the needs of the organization.
The Minister of culture at the end off tour said that the Ministry of culture is ready to provide all kind of assistance to keep the legacy of Georgia culture alive.
