According to the details provided by the Georgian Education Ministry, it should be noted that the annual book collection campaign event was held on March 17, 2025, Sunday. It should be noted that the Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Baia Kvitsiani opened the event by giving books to libraries.
The Deputy Minister in his speech, addressed the audience with a welcome speech and talked about the importance of providing access to education for convicts.
It is also worth mentioning that the Deputy Minister of Justice Giorgi Dgebuadze and Director of the Center for Vocational Training of Convicts Tamta Demurishvili also participated in the book distribution event.
It is noted that the Center for Vocational Training and Training actively cooperates with the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth for the purpose of resocialization-rehabilitation of convicts and prevention of repeat crime. It is through co-operation that convicts acquire new professions, which, after release, helps them employ and socialize.
As mentioned at the meeting, the book distribution project will continue throughout the year and anyone who wants to participate in it will have the opportunity. Reading literature will be distributed in various penitentiary institutions, which will enable prisoners to learn modern literature. In this regard, the Center for Vocational Training and Training of Convicts actively cooperates with the public and private sector within the project.
The handmade items of prisoners were exhibited for sale at the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth. The exhibition featured the products of the “re-market” shop, which are produced by prisoners in prison institutions. As a result of the exhibition-sale, the money received is transferred to the prisoner’s personal account, which is their income.
