Georgian Foreign Minister on official visit to Jordan

Foreign Minister of Georgia is on an official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and met Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Al Safadi.

Ilia Darchiashvili, the Foreign Minister of Georgia is on an official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. On Sunday September 15, he met Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Al Safadi.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry released a statement in this regard. According to the ministry statement, both the ministers from Georgia and Jordan have focused on the solid relationship that has existed between them for a long time.

It is worth noting that both Darchiashvili and Al Safadi shared their views on future relations; they also expressed hopes that the relationship between both countries will reach new heights in the future.

According to the press release of the Georgian Ministry of Georgia, both countries have also agreed on multifield cooperation. The release highlighted that cooperation in economy, tourism, and trade is necessary so that both countries can benefit.

The meeting also touched on the agreement for visa-free travel in both countries. The Minister of Jordan said that we will focus on educational and cultural collaboration between the two countries.

Meanwhile Georgian Minister Darchiashvili expressed his gratitude to Al Safadi for allocating a piece of land near the Jordan River’s baptism. The land will be used for the construction of the Georgian Cultural Center, which will provide information on Georgian rich heritage and cultures to the people of Jordan.

Georgian FM Ilia Darchiashvili, during the meeting also invited King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of Jordan to visit Georgia. It is to be specifically mentioned that both the countries have had a long relationship for more than three decades. The formal diplomatic relations between both countries were established in April 1994.

Since then the relationship has gone upward with collective efforts from both sides as well. Jordan opened its embassy in Georgia in 2004 and has been working here since then. Both countries have good, strong relations in the fields of economy, education, culture, and tourism among many other areas. The Georgian minister also thanked the Jordanian minister for the warm reception.
