Tbilisi: Vakhtang Gomelaur, who is the interior Minister of the Republic of Georgia recently met with German Federal Minister of Interior Nancy Fezer. She is on an official visit to Georgia. Both parties discussed many issues and signed an agreement on Migration and Mobility.
At the arrival of the German Minister, the Guard of Honour was presented to her By the members of the Georgian Armed Forces. After the formal receiving ceremonies there was a brief meeting among the Minister and representatives of Both sides.
Besides the Minister the Meeting was also signed by the representatives of Both countries who shared their views and experiences for boosting the bilateral relations between both countries as well.
It is specifically to be mentioned that the agreement signed by both countries aimed to strengthen the coordination and cooperation between Georgia and the German Federal Republic in the field of labour migration and education.
Moreover these agreements will also implement more educational and internship effort for Georgian students and researchers. At the same time the above-mentioned agreement provides for increse the fight against illegal migration, which means strengthening cooperation in ensuring the readmission and reintegration of Georgian citizens who violate the visa-free entry regime.
It is worth mentioning that during the meeting, both the countreis also discussed prospects for future cooperation in the fight against illegal immigration and organized crime.
Vakhtang Gomelaur speaking furterh on this special occasion of the meeting emphasized the importance of Germany’s inclusion of Georgia in the list of safe countries of origin and emphasized that the decision taken by the German government once again affirms that Georgia is a very stable, secure and democratic country with state bodies ensuring proper protection of human rights of all the citizens.
At the meeting the German side highlighted that Republic of Georgia is successfully implementing the readmission agreement signed with the European Union. In addition, the measures taken by Georgia in response to the challenges of visa-free entry to the EU were positively evaluated by both leaders.
At the end of the meeting, the sides expressed hope that cooperation between the two states would grow further in the near future, which would significantly contribute to the aforementioned agreement.
As Georgia a few days ago got the status of candidate country of the European Union, this meeting became more significant in the context of this historic development.
Germany is one of the major and influential economies of the European Union. Gerogrina’s side on this meeting said that the support of Germany is very important for the growth of the Georgian economy. Georgia also expressed hopes that German support would be required to gain the full-fledged membership of the European Union.
On the other hand German Minister and her accompanying delegation congratulated Georgia for gaining the status Of candidate country of the European Union.
German Minister also said that Germany would support every step of Georgia to enter into the European Union bloc.Minister also expressed hopes that the cooperation between both the countries will see new heights in future.
