The Georgian under-21 boys’ team hosted Croatia in the first UEFA 2025 U21 European Championship qualifying round playoff match at Mikheil Meskhi Stadium. Georgians defeated the opponent with a 1:0 score.Â
The youth team competes for the first time in the European Championship qualifying stage playoffs. The only goal in the match was scored in the first half.
The Georgia-Croatia match was attended by Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze, First Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports Shalva Gogoladze, Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze, and President of Georgian Football Federation Levan Kobiashvili.
The rematch will be held in Rijeka on Tuesday, November 19, and the winner of the two matches will play in the final stage of the European Championship.
It is remembered that in 2023, Georgia hosted the European Championship of footballers under 21 years old with Romania. Georgian footballers finished the competition in Group A of the European Championship in first place and went to the quarterfinals.
