Ambrolauri, Georgia: In Ambrolauri municipality, writer Giorgi Kekelidze held a meeting with young people on the topic: “Volunteering and civic activism,” on November 26, 2024.
The meeting was attended by 52 young people from Ambrolauri, Oni, Jhoshkha, Chrebalo, Buguli and Sadmeli. The event discussed the importance of volunteering and civic activism, the motivation to do good, and its impact on community development.
Giorgi Kekelidze talked to young people about important issues of the works of Shota Rustaveli, Camus, Brecht, Raul Serve, and Atanasio Vakalisi, which made the meeting even more interesting for young people.
Participants also watched animated films on the topic of volunteering and actively participated in discussions discussing the pros, challenges, and ways to properly plan volunteering.
The first Georgian digital library was founded by the poet and essayist Giorgi Kekelidze. He was born in Georgia’s Ozurgeti municipality on April 10, 1984. He has served as the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia’s general director since March 2012.
The workshop was organized by the Center for Economic Development and Support (EDEC), with the financial support of the European Union and the Conrad Adenauer Foundation, within the framework of the project “Civil Society Initiative: Sustainable, Open and Accountable Civil Society Organizations for the Development of Georgia“.
The Conrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) is leading the consortium that is carrying out the “Civil Society Initiative” project. The consortium includes the following non-governmental organizations: the European Policy Institute (IE P), the Center for Strategic Research and Development of Georgia (CSRDG), the Center for Consultation and Training (CTC), the Center for Economic Development and Support (EDEC), and the Center for Strategic Research and Development of Georgia (CSRDG).
Ambrolauri Municipality
In western Georgia, there is a self-governing entity called the Ambrolauri Municipality. The city of Ambrolauri is home to its governing authorities. Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti are the regions that the Ambrolauri Municipality shares with the nearby municipalities of Lentekhi, Oni, and Tsageri.
