Tbilisi: The Georgian internal displayed people’s welfare agency is working to provide new houses. They announced to provide these 600 houses to internal displaced people.
It is worth to mention that the agency for last many years is working in this direction. The agency used to launch many such efforts for welfare of these people in last years also.
The agency has shared this information on their social media handles also. The official Facebook page of agency stated, “The Agency for IDPs, Eco-migrants and livelihoods will purchase houses in rural areas for up to 600 internally displaced families.”
It further stated that, the list of these families has been published on the agency’s website. Internally displaced families are given a six-month period to choose houses in any region of Georgia on their own. The amount allocated for the purchase of housing is determined considering the family’s income.
It is worth to mention that the “House in Rural Areas” purchase project began in 2014 and has gained special scope in recent years. Moreover, during this period, the state has purchased houses for more than 11,000 internally displaced families, including about 1,400 families who were resettled this year.
In total, up to 266 million GEL was spent from the state budget within the framework of the project and more than 35 million GEL in 2024 alone. The process will continue even more actively in the future. In the 2025 budget, 65 million GEL will be allocated for the purchase of houses in rural areas.
The agency representative also said that these offers for the welfare of people living in conflict vulnerable region will continue in future also. Notably large number of people are living in extreme condition there.
The people often raised their voice for better housing facilities. Large number of people of these areas are still living in poor condition for a long time. They demanded to raise financial support towards these areas also.
