New Delhi, India: The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, once again called for a peaceful resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict by indulging in dialogue and diplomacy instead of military operations or aggression. The comments from PM Narendra Modi came during a press meeting with the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, who is visiting India to be the keynote speaker and the chief guest at the 8th Raisina Dialogue 2023.
The Indian PM stated, “India has always been an advocate for a peaceful solution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Additionally, he expressed his willingness to contribute to the peace-making process at any point in time.Â
At the same time, PM Narendra Modi welcomed the Italian counterpart on her first visit to India. Notably, Giorgia Meloni became the first woman and the youngest Prime Minister of Italy. PM Modi also congratulated her on behalf of Indians for her remarkable achievement.
The bilateral relations between India and Italy mark the diamond jubilee this year, making this visit from the Italian Prime Minister far more special. On this occasion, Indian Prime Minister Modi stated that India has decided to give strategic Partnership status to the Indo-Italy partnership while strengthening the relations with Italy on the aspects of renewable energy, hydrogen, IT, Telecom, space and semiconductors.Â
PM Modi further welcomed the Startup bridge between India and Italy.
In addition to this, PM Narendra Modi stated that the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ campaigns of India have been providing numerous opportunities for investments in India. The topic of counter-terrorism efforts and separatism was also discussed between the officials.
India and Italy further plan to begin cooperation in the defence sector, as Modi announced- “There is an additional sector wherein both the countries are beginning a new phase – defence cooperation. In the defence manufacturing sector in India, opportunities for co-production and development are arising, which can mutually benefit India and Italy. “The nations also look forward to conducting regular joint exercise and training courses.”
