Georgia: The leaders of educational resource centers met for an informational session about taking part in the “PISA 2025” International Student Assessment Program.
Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia shared glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on February 13, 2025. Along with the photographs, the ministry also shared some details about the meeting.
The Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth Alexander Tsuladze hosted the guests, together with Maia Miminoshvili, Director of the National Center for Educational Research.
According to the information shared by the Ministry, it should be noted that Minister Tsuladze expressed his deep gratitude towards the heads of resource centers for their hard work. According to the Education Minister, one of the Ministry’s priorities is to participate in international research and increase public awareness in this regard, therefore, the involvement of resource centers in the processes plays an important role.
He also noted that according to recent studies, Georgian students have improved their performance dramatically, which is the result of consistent, correct policy implementation and joint work at the level of general education.”
Important that school community representatives have comprehensive information about participating in the PISA survey. It is for this purpose that information meetings of this nature are held, which help education representatives, and stakeholders to understand the insights of international and local research and plan education policy.
It is also noteworthy that Maia Miminoshvili presented a presentation about a digital platform supporting schools to the participants of the meeting and noted that it would be another additional resource for all schools.
To better inform the school community, the head of the National Center for Educational Research (NCER) has reiterated the significance of international educational research, particularly the PISA research, and stated that such meetings will be actively continued.
It is important to note that the National Center for Educational Studies in Georgia (NCER) will take the lead in all foreign educational studies starting in 2024. The Center was founded in 2023 to use state assessments or foreign studies to systematically support educational policies and practices.
The Organization for Economic Development and Cooperation (OECD) conducts PISA, the largest international study on the subject of education. PISA results analysis aids nations in evaluating the state of their educational systems.
