Tbilisi: Levan Davitashvili, the Georgian minister of economy and sustainable development addressed the ongoing session of national Parliament. He shed lights on various aspects of Georgian economy in his brief address.
It is worth to note that Levan Davitashvili in his address also introduced the main economic trends and perspectives of the country to the members of the Finance-Budget, Field Economy and Economic Policy, Agrarian Issues, Protection of the Environment and Natural Resources and Regional Policy and Self-Government Committees of the 11th Parliament.
He was addressing the joint session of this parliamentary committees, the issue of declaring confidence for the government and the government program “2025-2028 towards Europe with only peace, dignity and prosperity” were also discussed.
It is also to be added that the ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development noted during his speech that the country continues to experience positive economic trends seen in the past few years.
He specifically underlined that “According to January-September data, economic growth reached 9.9%. In parallel with high economic growth, Georgia has low inflation rate of 0.3% in October this year. The trend of declining unemployment continued in the three quarters of 2024 and reached an average of 13.8%.”
Speaking about the poverty he added that, the share of the population below the absolute poverty line dropped to a historic low, to 11.8% and in just three years, more than 350,000 people managed to escape poverty. However despite the positive dynamics, poverty remains an important challenge, – said Levan Davitashvili.
Notably during his speech at the joint session of the parliamentary committees, Levan Davitashvili emphasized the current and planned reforms and talked about the prospects and forecasts of economic growth for the next few years.
He also said that newly elected government is all set to take new initiative for the overall development of Georgian economy. He apprised the member of national Parliament about schemes and program which will be implemented in next year’s so that the biggest challenge being faced by Georgian economy can be addressed effectively as well.
