Rustavi, Georgia: For the first time, municipal buses on the Rustavi-Tbilisi transport line will run from Chkondideli district (Rchheulishvili N 10) in Rustavi. Rustavi City Hall has completed the most important stage of transport reform and fulfilled one of the main demands of the Rustavi people.
Since many Rustavi residents take public buses, this new route was started to make travel between Tbilisi and Rustavi even more comfortable.
It is worth noting that the presentation of the new transport line was presented by Rustavi Mayor Nino Latsabidze, Deputy Mayor Besik Togonidze, Rustavi City Council fraction “Georgian Dream” and relevant services of the City Hall.
The Mayor of Rustavi, Nino Latsabidze visited the Chkondideli district to inspect the whole work. She shared glimpses of her visit on her official Facebook page on March 18, 2025, Tuesday.
The mayor had a small talk with the ministers and locals present there. she stated,” Rustavi City Hall team, with the support of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Georgian government, we have completed the main stage of transport reform.”
“From today, a new route from Chkondideli district has been appointed to Tbilisi and new Eurostandard buses will serve passengers,” she added.
According to Nino Latsabidze, this new line is especially important for students, because for the first time today, they will be able to go to school directly from Chkondideli district.
As per the information shared by the Rustavi Mayor, it should be noted that with the help of the Georgian Government, Rustavi City Hall has implemented a project worth 20 million GEL and purchased 70 units of new buses, which are distributed on 4 different routes.
It is also noteworthy that, the 5th transport line direction, was launched in 2023 and for decades, it was the first municipal transport that started working on the Rustavi-Tbilisi road.
Notably, from Rustavi to Tbilisi, municipal transportation currently travels via the Sports Palace, Didube Bus Station, University Building, ISNI, and currently the train station.
It is possible to pay for travel fares with a card system – “Rustavi Card“, “Bank of Georgia” and “TBC Bank” cards. There is a concession package for students, transportation is free for people with disabilities.
It is to be added that, every day, about 30 thousand people travel between Rustavi and Tbilisi. Each gauge of municipal transport is made according to Rustaveli’s interests and passenger flow.
