Tbilisi: Georgia’s national forest agency received 47 cases of forest code rules violation this year. This includes illegal chopping, transportation of trees in many regions and municipalities of country.
It is worth to note that the employees of the national forestry agency revelled these shocking facts recently. The agency has once again warned all those who are doing illegal activities in forest areas of country to avoid fins and punishment.
As per the received information out of total number of incidents there were 43 incidents of the rules violations related to illegal logging and transportation of timber. In total up to 52 cubic meters of illegally harvested timber of various species were seized by law enforcers. This huge quantity of has been restored in the agency’s business yards for further disposal.
It is also to noted that of the facts of illegal logging across the country, 16 violations were identified by employees of the Kakheti Forestry Service, 10 were exposed by employees of the Samtskhe-Javakheti.
On the other hand 6 incident were reported by employees of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti whereas 1 by employees of the Imereti Forestry Service, 2 by employees of the Kvemo Kartli and 2 were by employees of the Shida Kartli.
At the same time 3 incidents were discovered by employees of the Guria, 1 by employees of the Racha-Lechkhumi-Kvemo Svaneti and 2 by employees of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Forestry Services.
The employees of the regional forestry services also identified 4 facts of arbitrary seizure of the State Forest Fund. Moreover the priority direction of the National Forestry Agency is forest restoration activities, which have been implemented on an area of 4,000 hectares across the country and according to the plan, restoration works will be carried out on an area of at least 20,000 hectares by 2030.
To prevent violations, camera traps have been placed throughout the perimeter of the state forest managed by the National Forestry Agency, which, along with patrols by forestry service employees, allows early detection of illegal cutting of natural resources.
