Georgian delegation  meetings experts of entertainment industry  at Cannes Film Festival

The Georgian delegation that currently in Cannes Film Festival continues to meet the different stakeholders associated with the film industry. The 77th Cannes Film Festival is going on with the participation of many big production houses, directors, and producers as well.

The Georgian delegation is being led by the acting director of the Cinema Center, Koba Khubunaya, who met with international media consultant Carlos Hertel regarding the possible implementation of education programs in Georgia, increasing the visibility of Georgian cinema in foreign countries.  Similarly, possibilities of presenting Georgian projects   for next year were discussed with the selector of the Cannes Film Festival along with possibility of filming foreign projects in Georgia was discussed with English producer David Grum.

Comprising of several esteemed Georgian directors and producers, the Film Center delegation is on a mission to effectively showcase and advocate for Georgian cinema. Their interactions with representatives from diverse production companies aim to foster collaborations, thereby advancing the country’s film industry. This proactive approach is instrumental in strengthening international ties and ensuring the success of ongoing projects.

The delegation of filmmakers and producers got  the opportunity to interact with the  European film market with their works or future projects and help to promote Georgian cinema. During the festival, it is planned to advertise/popularize Georgia as an attractive country for filmmakers. Representatives of the program “Shoot in Georgia” are working with the team of the National Cinema Center at Georgian Pavilion in the festival for this purpose.

Notably, the National Cinema Center of Georgia, a pillar of support for the country’s film industry, announced a competition for financing the screening of full-length feature films at the Cannes International Film Festival’s film market in March. As a result, the film ‘Citizen Saint’, a collaborative effort by director Tinatin Kajrishvili and producer Lasha Khalvashi was screened. This critically acclaimed film  backed by the National Cinema Center of Georgia has garnered international recognition with several prestigious awards.
