The official of the Ruling party of Georgia, Georgian Dream says opposition parties of Georgia are free to renounce Parliamentary election results. This statement was issued by the Mamuka Mdinaradze, the Executive Secretary of Georgian Dream.
The Georgian Dream party won parliamentary election held on October 26, 2024. However since declaration of results almost all option parties along with some civil society organisation are protesting election results. As per them ruling party have misused its authority to influence public opinions.
Notably first session of nation parliament in under progress. This first session in being held as per law following election results. The executive secretary speaking specifically added that, “ We cannot impose any restriction on anyone. If member of opposition party has made their mind to reject people mandate, they are free to do so. He also cleared that it to time to renounced election mandate if any political party want to do so.”
This reaction from Georgian Dream came as reaction to the boycott call of opposition party from Parliament in protest of election results. In addition, in his speech executive secretary Mdinaradze expressed gratitude to all citizens. He specifically stated that, The Georgian Dream is thankful to all who have voted in its favour or against it.
According to him Georgian Dream respect the decision of people who have supported or opposed it. However important thing is that everything was peaceful except rare reports of isolated incident as well.
While expressed his views about national institutes he said that all institutions are working as per Georgian law. In any case if opposition parties have any concerns they should approach the courts for proper remedies of their grievances.
Mdinaradze also highlighted in his statement that 11th convocation of the Parliament had been already formed in the first session. He further made it clear that in the first session of parliament following the national election the powers of all Members of parliament have been confirmed.
Notably in first session there were 150 member of parliament whose powers have been confirmed. On this occasion eighty-eight person have voted to recognise the powers of MPs.
