Tbilisi: The families with cancer affect children have good news. The government program for their treatment in foreign countries has been expanded for these cancer affected children.
The details of information have been revealed after expansion. As per updated program, “The program for the treatment of children with oncological diagnoses abroad has been expanded. Beneficiaries will be able to receive services in three more clinics in Turkey.”
As per the provisions of expanded program the “Medicana International Clinic”, “EMC Hospital” and “Medipol Mega University Hospital” have been added to the program. The Minister of Health visited the new and previously existing partner medical institutions of the program and take stock of available facilities there.
Mikheil Sarjveladze met with young Georgian patients in Turkey and their parents. Moreover, he got acquainted with the treatment process of the beneficiaries and received detailed information about the services available to them in the clinics.
It is wort to note that all the patients under the framework of the program for the treatment of children with oncological diagnoses abroad are already getting treatment in 8 clinics – in Turkey, Spain and Israel. Cooperation agreements with new partner clinics have already been signed.
The program for the treatment of children with oncological diagnoses abroad has been in effect since August 2023. The treatment package includes diagnostics and a standard course of treatment including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery and proton therapy.
Since its launch, 157 beneficiaries have availed the benefits under the program. 100 patients have already completed treatment under the program. The Minister was in Turkey with the head of the Georgian Solidarity Fund, Khatuna Chachava, and the representative of the fund, Ketevan Kartozia.
At the same time within the framework of the program for the treatment of children with oncological diagnoses abroad, patients can receive medical services now in Spain, at the “Kiron Salud Proton Therapy Center”, in Israel, at the “Tel-Aviv Sourasky (Ichilov) Medical Center”, in Turkey, at the “Anadolu Medical Center”, in Acibadem Hospital, in “Hospital Memorial”,”Medicana International Clinic”, “EMC Hospital” and “Medipol Mega University Hospital”.
Along with Georgian hospitals the state fully finances the treatment of all beneficiaries in partner clinics in Turkey, Israel and Spain. The Georgian citizens present in foreign countries have thanked the minster.
