Georgia: Rustavi City Hall has officially closed the choreographic competition/festival “Georgian” with a full house. The final event of the festival began with a concert by Zviad Bolkvadze and “Ranineli” and ended with an award ceremony.
The Rustavi choreographic ensemble “Javari” won the Grand Prix of the festival. The first and second place winners were “Iberi” and “Kegoshvili”. Additionally, the Rustavi City Hall presented cash awards to the winning ensembles in 10 different nominations.
Notably, the Mayor of Rustavi Nino Latsabidze and the delegate of the historical villages of Rustavi and Gardabani to the Parliament of Georgia Irakli Shatakishvili presented the winners with the awards.
Furthermore, Mayor Nino Latsabidze called the festival a “tradition” which is hosted during Georgian Days every spring. She also shared the video of the entire competition on her official Facebook account on May 5, 2025.
About the choreographic competition
The festival opened on April 26 in the central park of Rustavi and had about 60 thousand visitors during 10 days. There were 26 ensembles and about 3000 dancers from different regions of Georgia who took part in the competition/festival.
Various activities are hosted every day in the festival space for the locals to enjoy. An exhibition and sale of works by entrepreneurs, master classes in calligraphy, ceramics, carpet weaving, and a showroom of Georgian national clothes were also organized.
The competition/festival “Georgia” was founded in 2024. It was an initiative of Nino Latsabidze and is organized by the Rustavi City Hall. It is held in the central park of Rustavi every spring. The festival has an exclusive logo, according to which a temporary grand prix is awarded to the winner every year.
The musical composition created for the festival is also exclusive. In 2024, 1,500 dancers from 24 ensembles of the Kvemo Kartli region participated in the competition festival. Since 2025, the scale of “Georgian” has increased and all regions of Georgia have been involved in it.
