Saint Lucia: PM Pierre set to attend 44th regular meeting of CARICOM leaders

Castries, Saint Lucia: The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre, is all set to attend the Forty-forth Regular meeting of the CARICOM leaders, i.e. Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community., which is scheduled to be held in Nassau, Bahamas from February 15-17, 2023.

Castries, Saint Lucia: The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre, is all set to attend the Forty-forth Regular meeting of the CARICOM leaders, i.e. Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community., which is scheduled to be held in Nassau, Bahamas from February 15-17, 2023.

Alongside PM Pierre, the event will mark the presence of the various leaders from the Caribbean region, who will be heading to Bahamas to discuss the challenges faced by citizens with their respective solutions. The official event opening ceremony was held at the Atlantis Bahamas on February 15.

The opening ceremony included the 13th CARICOM Triennial Award for Women, presented to honour women of distinction in the Caribbean Community.

Further, the respective leaders of the CARICOM governments will meeting within the framework of a closed plenary session from scheduled from February 16-17, 2023, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Baha Mar. The Prime Minister of the Bahamas, Philip Davis, will be chairing the CARICOM meeting.

It must be noted that the meetings of heads of government include the Heads of the Government of the Member of States of CARICOM, which serves as administrative and policy directive for the Caribbean Community. It also determines and concludes Treaties on behalf of the Community. At the same time, it formulates the relationships that exist between Communities as well as International Organisations and States.

Meanwhile, the Deputy prime of Saint Lucia, Ernest Hilaire, will be the acting Prime Minister of Saint Lucia till February 20, 2023. Notably, CARICOM is the oldest running integration initiative that provides a pathway to be followed by other regional organisations.
