DFG delegates Visit Georgian National Academy of Science

The Delegation of Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, a German Research Foundation) Visited the National Academy of Science of Georgia. Delegation visit with an aim to Deepening the Institutional cooperation with the Republic of Georgia.

Tbilisi: The Delegation of Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, a German Research Foundation) Visited the National Academy of Science of Georgia. Delegation visit with an aim to Deepening the Institutional cooperation with the Republic of Georgia.

The key speaker who addressed the joint meeting included Elguja Medzmariashvili, Ramaz Khurodze, Giorgi Kvesitadze, Tamaz Chelidze and others

Roin Metrewell, who is president of the Georgian National Academy of Science, inaugurated the opening meeting. During his speech, the Academy president introduced guests to the history of the Academy from its foundation to the present day.He also apprised the Visiting delegation members about the Academy’s scientific departments and members. The president highlighted the achievement of the National science academy that contributed in a significant way to improving the scientific study of the Country.

Speaking specifically, the President said that “ Georgian scientists have close connections with scientific communiity of many foreign countries, including the United States, Japan, China and others. The German state will be in one of the first places in a context of institutional cooperation”.

The Mutual cooperation between both countries is expressed in terms of the implementation of common projects, the exchange of scientists and students, etc.

The visiting guests from the German Foundation presented an online presentation to make the audience understand their foundation’s vision in a better way. The delegation members said that DFG is the central self-governing research organisation in Germany and one of the largest organisations in Europe which was founded in 1920.

DFG serves the science (including the humanities) and promotes the development of higher-level universities and non-university research institutions in Germany. They further added that DFG also cares about promoting international cooperation.

One of the main objectives of the visit is to hold a joint working meeting with the partner organisation, namely Shota Rustaveli Science Foundation.

Guests members stated in their speech they were honoured to visit the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia, one of the Country’s largest research organisations, and exchange information. They also hailed the achievement of the National Academy of Science.

The Germans delegation memebrs also noted that their future plan is to cooperate with the academy and implement joint projects. It is to be added that countries expressed hopes that this meeting was very productive and postive and would also pave the way for positive cooperation among science-related institutions in Georgia and Germany.

Moreover Both Countries also agreed to share scientific information with each other to boost the research in their respective country.
