Tbilisi: The special investigation services of Georgia has issued a statement on law enforcement officers’ actions. As per services official strict legal action will be taken against all government officials who have exceeded their constitutional powers.
The special investigation services also took strict action against the officer who have exceeded their powers and violated the rights of citizens in past years also . Now this action is also another step to safeguard interest of Georgian citizens as well.
As per the official of the special investigation services the action will be taken as per the rules and regulation of Georgian law. The information in this regard is also shared by official on their social media handles.
The statement of the Special Investigation Service mention in clearly that in a democratic country no one can be allowed to take law in their hand even if they are police officials or belong to any other government agency as well.
On November 28-30 of this year during the rally in the vicinity of the Parliament, based on the received reports and video footage covered by the media an investigation was launched into the facts of law enforcement officers exceeding their official authority by using violence against the rally participants and media representatives.
The investigation has been launched under Subparagraph “b” of Part Three of Article 333 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The service receives reports from the Public Defender’s Office and temporary detention centres 24 hours a day through a hotline, regarding which investigative actions are being taken the subject of the investigation also isolated individual cases of excessive force reported by media outlets.
All necessary investigative and procedural actions are being taken within the framework of the ongoing investigation.
Special Investigation Service Investigators said, they are studying all footage and episodes broadcast by the media that are important for the investigation.
They are also meeting with detainees, conducting interviews in detention centres and the investigative service, medical examinations of injured protest participants and media representatives have been and will be conducted and documentation is being requested from medical institutions.
