Tbilisi: The special investigation agency of Georgia announced to make special efforts for the better working of agency in future. This will also enhance the effectiveness of investigation process of agency as well.
The latest information in this regard was shared by the officials of the agency on the social media handles as well. As per the official Facebook post of SIS, “Structural changes will be carried out in order to strengthen the special investigation service in the Special Investigation Service, reorganization has begun to further increase the effectiveness of the investigation and to strengthen the institution.”
It further stated that , Within the framework of the reorganization a special case investigation department will be established on the basis of the investigation department, which will investigate the wrong treatment and violence committed by law enforcers, crimes committed against journalists as well as re-investigations based on the decision of the European Court of Human Rights and Freedoms.”
At the same time SIS have also planned to set up a private life detention department, which will investigate pedophilia, sexual harassment and blackmailing of personal life.
It is worth to mention that the creation of two independent investigative departments will allow, on one hand rationally allocating investigative resources for investigating all categories of crimes and on the other hand, all investigators will have the ability to work on only one category of crime.
Notably recommendations for regulating this issue are also highlighted in reports of international organizations and human rights activists.
In addition structural changes are also associated with dangerous challenges for children and adults, such as cases of pedophilia, sexual rape, blackmailing of personal life in the internet space. Accordingly the new specialized investigative unit shall take a uniform approach to ensure timely and effective investigation of cases, crime prevention and awareness raising.
Similallry following the implementation of relevant legislative changes, which the special investigation service addressed to Parliament in September this year, the Department of Investigation of Private Life will also be established in the Department of Monitoring of Persons Convicted of Sexual Rape. T,
he new administration will control the behaviour of those convicted of this crime and ensure that they take necessary measures to prevent them from committing repeated crimes.
The Department will also be joined by the Authority for the Protection of Victims’ Rights, its staff will provide detailed information on the rights and responsibilities of affected citizens, including their psychological support, introduction of case materials, offering special protection programs, representatives of the Georgian Public Ombudsman to organize the process of acquaintance with the case materials.
Within the framework of reorganization to strengthen the institutions and provide geographical accessibility, work in Lower Kartli, city as well as in Rustavi another fifth regional administration will be operated. Construction of the regional office is planned to be completed in April 2025.
