Georgia: The first solo concert of the Anzor Erkomaishvili State Folklore Center Choir was held at the Rustaveli National Theater. The Ministry of Culture of Georgia gave its full support for the organization of this concert.
The Ministry of Culture of Georgia also shared details and glimpses of the concert on its official Facebook account. The post was shared with the locals of Georgia on May 7, 2025 (Wednesday).
Notbaly, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Folk Song and Traditional Chant Choir of the State Folklore Center was established last year. It unites students of the Salotbaro School, and students and graduates of the Giorgi Mtatsmindeli Chant University.
Goal of the Choir
The goal of the creation of the choir is to popularize Georgian musical folklore. The choir is also established to continue the tradition of performing folk music among the younger generation.
Highlights of the Concert
The concert was led by Giorgi Donadze, Director of the State Folklore Center on a small stage of the theater. Folklore samples from various regions, traditional polyphonic songs and hymns were performed at the concert.
Furthermore, the choir members performed in stage costumes purchased with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Georgia.
Attendees of the Concert
The Minister of Culture of Georgia, Tinatin Rukhadze, Deputy Minister Giorgi Mirtskhulava, and the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Culture, Giorgi Gabunia attended the concert.
Moreover, Tinatin Rukhadze wished the members of the choir success. He emphasized the Ministry’s increased support for folklore as the country’s calling card. “Georgian folklore is the determinant of our identity, it is the uniqueness that makes our country unique in the world, it is our calling card,” he said.
He further added that they will do everything to ensure that folklore is the number one priority for Georgian culture. Tinatin Rukhadze also thanked the Parliamentary Committee on Culture and all the ensembles that helped organize the concert. He appreciated them for the work they are doing for Georgian culture.
