On this occasion, the invited trainer Giorgi Akiashvili and the executive director of the Education Development and Employment Centre (EDEC), Natia Namicheishvili led the session
It is to be added that after the conclusion of this session the teams will shortly have the opportunity to participate in the debate tournament. The tournament will be held under the theme “Volunteerism should be developed in Georgia.”
It is worth noting that the project “Training for Volunteerism” is being implemented with the support of the Center for Education Development and Employment within the framework of the project “Civil Society Initiative ” which is financed by the European Union and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
In fact the project is being jointly implemented by a consortium led by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) and some prominent non-governmental organizations. These NGOs include the Center for Strategic Research and Development of Georgia (CSRDG), Civil Society Institute (CSI), Counseling and Training Center (CTC), Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC) and Institute for European Policy (IEP).
At the training session students learned about the various aspects of volunteerism. They also learned the details of how different NGOs work which have a large number of volunteers as members. The key speaker on this occasion also encouraged the students to prioritize voluntarism. Speaking specifically on the benefits of being a volunteer they stated, “Being a young force of the country, you have the great potential to bring change at the ground level.”
They also told students that “Working as volunteers with an NGO or civil society organization can help you to expand their social network.” Moreover students can learn about the challenges being faced by countries in area of work of specific NGOs.
