The officials of the Ministry of the Environement held training for students. Students were trained on “Managing the risk of climate change disasters and the importance of risk maps. ” This training helped the students better understand the needs related to environmental issues.

It is to be specifically mentioned that the Center for Environmental Information and Education of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia has implemented a green scholarship program. This program aims to promote different professions in environmental protection and encourage high academic achievement among master’s degree students.

It is also worth mentioning that the Center for Environmental Information and Education has also organized a training session for students involved in the Green Scholarship Program in the past. That session was held on the topics of “Management of the risk of climate change disasters and the importance of hazard risk maps. ”

It is worth noting that Students received information about local-level threats, climate change and global warming opportunities, and their main characteristics.

Representatives from the National Environment Agency introduced the participants to hydrometeorological maps and discussed their use and how the maps are used in spatial planning and site permitting processes. During the meeting students along with other experts, discussed geoinformation systems and zoning actions to combat climate change.

This significant training was held within the framework of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) wide-scale initiative under “Reducing the Risk of Climate Change Disasters in Georgia”, with the support of the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the governments of Georgia, Sweden and Switzerland.

The threat of climate change has caused widespread problems across the world. The scientific community has already warned the global community about the ill effects of global warming and the rising temperature. If necessary, steps should be taken immediately at a wide scale.

Moreover, the student community is expected to play a vital role in raising awareness about the problems of climate change and global warming.
