Georgia: The winners of the Ideathon of Guria schools were announced, within the framework of the project “Green Guria,” on March 7, 2025, Friday. It should be noted that the project “Green Guria,” was supported by the European Union (EU).
CENN shared the snippets of the award ceremony of the winners of Ideathon on its official Facebook page. It is worth noting that, CENN is a non-governmental organization working to protect the environment fostering sustainable development throughout the South Caucasus. According to the information shared by CENN, it should be noted that, at the final meeting, the jury consisted of representatives from CENN, Global Platform Georgia, and the Union of Young Teachers. Among the competitors, nine winning schools and the best projects were revealed:
From Ozurgeti Municipality:
- Baileti Public School
- Ozurgeti N2 Public School Team “Restart”
- Naruji public school
- City Hall Public School
- Ozurgeti N4 public school team “Stand Plan Guria”
From Chokhatauri Municipality:
- Guthuri public school
- Niko Mari Public School N1
From Lanchkhuti municipality:
- Lanchkhuti N3 Public School
- Lanchkhuti N1 Public School
Each winning school was awarded a grant of 1,000 euros as a reward from the European Union and Global Platform Georgias to implement the projects. At the same time, Niko Ketskhoveli’s school competition gave additional prizes to 2 chosen schools and awarded Gurianti and Nagomari schools with 500 GEL equipment vouchers.
The manager of the Emergency Situations Management, Civil Protection, Rural Development and Intellectual Property Program of the EU Representative in Georgia, Ketevan Khutsishvili, stated “Today’s Ideaton reveals that the European Union continues to support Georgian youth constantly. We firmly believe that young people have the greatest potential to become the main driving force behind positive change and sustainable development. The European Union is ready to contribute to their development.”
According to CENN, it is noteworthy that the EU support for young people in Georgia is unshakable. Together with Georgia, the EU aims to create opportunities for young people to study, work, participate fully in society, and fulfill their potential.
