Tbilisi: The United States Ambassador to Georgia, Kelly Degnan, on Wednesday, commented about recent accusations made by Russia that the explosives that had been used in the blasts that rocked the Crimean Bridge had been delivered from Georgian territory. Degnan stated that there had been “a lot of speculation” even without the mentioned information.
She said that the US embassy has been in continuous touch and operating in alignment with Georgian customs service and border police authorities as well as the coast guard for such a long time. The embassy has been fulfilling the requirements of equipment, teachings, skills and training to protect the country’s borders and control aggression.
In future also, the US embassy will continue this mutual cooperation.
The Russian federal security service, on Wednesday, publicized the detention of five Russian citizens along with three Ukrainian and Armenian nationals in its ongoing investigation into the Crimean bridge blast that had been considered as an act of terrorism by Vladimir Putin.
The investigating security agency, on Wednesday, noted that a Georgian citizen named Sandro Inosaridze and a broker named Levan had assisted the transportation alongside Ukrainian, Russian and Armenian citizens.
The Russian security service had accused the Ukrainian intelligence service of being the organizer of the attack, claiming that 22,770 kg of explosives had been sent from Ukraine’s Odesa port to Bulgaria in August. Another cargo later had transported from Georgian territories and Armenia before it reached its final destination.
