Tbilisi: The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Irakli Karseladze, met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Georgia, Ulrik Tiedestrom and discussed various projects.
At the meeting, the parties conducted discussions about the completed, ongoing and planned infrastructural projects in the country. The Minister provided the Ambassador with detailed information on ongoing and planned projects such as road, water and water supply, non-hazardous waste management and municipal infrastructure development. The talk touched on the decentralization strategy and the results of the implementation of the action plan developed within this strategy.
Karseladze spoke about the importance of the successful implementation of ongoing and planned infrastructural projects in both the country and international sectors. Also, he introduced to the Ambassador the main directions of planned infrastructure development, given the 10-year strategy of the country’s development, developed on the initiative of the Prime Minister of Georgia.
The Swedish Ambassador gave a high rating on the development of infrastructural projects and the progress of ongoing works. He also positively assessed the country’s short and medium-term vision and development strategy, which will be important for increasing and utilizing Georgia’s potential.
The Minister thanked the Ambassador for the support of environmental and infrastructural projects by the Swedish Development Agency. The parties at the meeting celebrated the success of the cooperation between the Ministry and the Agency and talked about possibilities for deepening it further.
The Ambassador of Sweden once again reaffirmed the strong support of the Kingdom of Sweden for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia, as well as the process of European integration of Georgia. He also noted the importance of giving Georgia a European perspective and reaffirmed Sweden’s full support for Georgia on the way to joining the European Union.
