NSA Ajit Doval discusses strategic partnership b/w India & Russia with Putin

New Delhi, India: The National Security Advisor(NSA) of India, Ajit Doval, on Thursday, called on the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin and discussed the implementation of the India-Russia strategic partnership. NSA Doval has been in Moscow to attend the fifth multilateral meeting of Secretaries of Security Councils and National Security Advisers on Afghanistan, where he discussed the bilateral and regional issues with Putin.

New Delhi, India: The National Security Advisor(NSA) of India, Ajit Doval, on Thursday, called on the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin and discussed the implementation of the India-Russia strategic partnership. NSA Doval has been in Moscow to attend the fifth multilateral meeting of Secretaries of Security Councils and National Security Advisers on Afghanistan, where he discussed the bilateral and regional issues with Putin.

The Official Embassy of India in Russia updated about the discussions held between the Indian NSA and the Russian President in a tweet, which reads as- “NSA Ajit Doval called on HE President Putin, conducting a wide-ranging discussion on bilateral and regional issues and work towards implementing India-Russia strategic partnership.”

Doval, during his meeting, also reiterated the need of building an inclusive and representative government in Kabul n along with the efforts to combat the acts of terrorism. Doval stressed the integrity of Afghanistan and stated that the country shouldn’t be used a mediator to export terrorism.

Moreover, the natural resources that are available in Afghanistan should be utilized for the development of Afghanistan first. The meeting included Iran, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan apart from India and Russia. The meeting also focused on security and humanitarian issues in Afghanistan. 

The NSA stated that India has been and will continue to be an important stakeholder in Afghanistan. As he stated, India has always been there for the people of Afghanistan and will continue to the mutual efforts to build a prosperous and vibrant nation. 

Notably, the previous multilateral meeting was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan in May 2022.
