Tbilisi: Vasil Gedevanishvili, the head of the National Environment Agency of Georgia, met representatives of the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. This meeting was held under the framework of the project “Save Nature-Georgia”. Swedish Delegation is on a working visit to Georgia. This meeting was also attended by Khatuna Zaldastanishvili, who is the Head of the Swedish Embassy in Georgia.
It is worth mentioning that during this bilateral meeting, both parties discussed modern approaches to monitoring atmospheric air quality in Georgia and discussed opportunities and directions for future cooperation in the field of environmental protection.
Meanwhile, members of The Swedish delegation also visited the Agency’s Atmospheric Air, Water and Soil Analysis Modern Standards Laboratory to acquaint themself with the functioning of the laboratory. Members of the delegation also inspected the automatic atmospheric air quality monitoring station. This automatic atmospheric air monitoring was installed under the framework of the project “Save Nature-Georgia”.
It is worth mentioning that the project “Save Nature-Georgia” was launched by the Georgian Ministry of Environment and Agriculture with active support from the Swedish Government’s International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
This projcet is undergoing since the year of 2021. One of the main priority area of the project is to enhance the atmospheric air quality monitoring network in entire Georgia and improve the air quality in atmosphere. It is important that a number of steps have been taken in this direction by the ministry in recent years within the project “save neture georgia”.
It included the opening of 2 new monitoring stations in accordance with modern standards in Georgia. The air quality monitoring network of the National Environment Agency will be expanded with eight automatic and 1 mobile station in the near future, as per the information shared by the Environment Ministry of the Republic of Georgia.
Both sides agreed to share the expertise of the technology for better air quality monitoring in Georgia. A few days ago, A Georgian delegation visited Swedish to enhance the cooperation between both countries in the field of environment protection and Air Quality Monitoring.
Members of visiting delegations also did some experiments with regard to air quality. They also clicked a group photo at the end of this meeting.
