Georgia: The Georgian Finance Minister and ADB President discussed the importance of the 57th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank in Georgia.
During the discussion organized by the Asian Development Bank periodic edition “ADB Insight,” in which Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili, ADB President Massa Asakava, EBRD President Odil Reno-Basso talked about the importance of the 57th annual meeting of the Asian Development Bank in Georgia.
Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili stated, “We chose the slogan for the annual meeting for several reasons: “Bridge to the future.” First and foremost, we position ourselves as a bridge connecting Europe and Asia. Also, we are hosting this significant event at a crucial time for Georgia because we have the status of an EU candidate country. Also, we are all coming out of the damage caused by the pandemic and experiencing a regional crisis. “Last but not least, Georgia is the oldest country with a great history, a very modern society, and a very bright, young generation, which also emphasizes that the government is moving forward. “
“I think development-oriented multinational banks are a good way and bridge to move forward for the future.” Three factors are also important:
- The appropriate response to climate change
- The mobilization of private sector capital
- The deepening of regional cooperation
All this will help promote globalization. If these three factors are combined well, I think development-oriented multinational banks will be potent tools for addressing today’s challenges,” noted the ADB President.
“Finally, Mr. Lasha, thank you very much for hosting the Asian Development Bank annual meeting this year; I look forward to seeing many people in Tbilisi,” said Asian Development Bank president Masatsugu Asakawa.
The discussion was organized by the Asian Development Bank’s periodic edition, “ADB Insight,” with the participation of ADB President Massa Asakawa and EBRD President Odil Reno-Basso. Nisha Pillai, one of the most famous faces of BBC World News for years and the host of Asia, conducted the interview.
The discussion took place ahead of the 57th annual meeting of the Asian Development Bank, which will be held in Tbilisi from May 2 to 5.
