Georgian delegation meets with Armenia State Revenue Committee

The head of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia Soso Ramishvili, together with deputies and heads of the Revenue Service, hosted the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

The head of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia Soso Ramishvili, together with deputies and heads of the Revenue Service, hosted the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia. The delegation was led by the chairman of the committee Eduard Hakobiani.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the specifics of colleague organizations’ activities and important issues pertaining to their competence. It was noted that within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2023 between the parties, bilateral cooperation between the colleague agencies of the Republic of Georgia and the Republic of Armenia has gained an intense character in terms of detection, detection and investigation of crimes committed in the financial and economic sphere.

The representatives of the Georgian side shared their experience with the members of the delegation about counting goods movement, mechanisms to fight tax crime and the steps taken to fight against cybercrime.

The sides discussed the challenges faced by the two countries in terms of combating financial crime and deepening further cooperation, agreed on key areas.

Both sides on this occasion expressed hopes that in future trade between both sides will see new heights. According to financial experts of both sides in future step will be taken to bring transparency in trade and exports of products as well.

Notably both countries have free trade agreement. The free trade agreement means there are many products which are covered under tax free categories as well.

In year 2022 the Georgia have exported produced worth 571 million US dollars to Armenia. However, in next two year the trade between both countries sees a decline once again.

Now once again the concerned department from both sides are also have been taking step in this direction so that the rate of trade between both sides can be enhanced as well.

The major products covered under these trade agreement includes tobacco, glass, mineral fuels, oils, distillation products etc.
