An event dedicated to strategic cooperation with the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia. Notably, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Zviad Gabisonia, took part.
The Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia shared the glimpses of the event on its official Facebook Page on December 29, 2025, Monday. The Georgian Ministry also shared a small note about the event along with its glimpses.
Zviad Gabisonia addressed the audience with a speech and focused on the importance of cooperation with CERN during his conversation. As the Deputy Minister noted, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth is placing a special emphasis on strengthening international collaboration in science. This, in turn, promotes the modernization and internationalization of science, research, and technology.
David Gurgenidze, Rector of the Technical University of Georgia, presented a report at the event and emphasized the role of the European Organization for Nuclear Research in fundamental science and technological development.
The Technical University of Georgia and Tbilisi State University actively cooperate with CERN. Georgian scientists are involved in such important experiments as CMS, ATLAS, and SHIP.
The event was attended by the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia, academician Roin Metreveli, rector of Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary, Protopresbyter Giorgi Zviadze, Rector of Tbilisi State University Jaba Samushia, Rector of the Tbilisi State University named after Ivane Javakhishvili, Teimuraz Dochvir, General Director of Rustaveli Scientific Foundation, UN departments in Geneva, and other international representatives, including the Permanent Representative of Georgia Revaz Lominadze, Georgian academics and scientists.
