Tbilisi: The Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, Solomon Pavliashvili, attended the presentation event of the “Concept for the Development of Food/Agro Laboratories in Georgia”.
The document on Agro Laboratories was developed by the working group created by order of the Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia in partnership with the Association of Laboratories of Georgia.
The project received the support of the Czech Development Agency (CzDA) within the framework of the EU-funded project “Support for Food Security and SPS Sector in Georgia within ENPARD IV”.Â
This project is co-financed by the Embassy of Sweden, the Czech Development Agency (CzDA) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
 The concept document will help increase the capacity of laboratories in the areas of food safety, animal and aquaculture health and plant protection.
The Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture, Solomon Pavliashvili thanked the Czech Development Agency (CzDA) for its support.
 “The development of this concept helps to strengthen the laboratories of food and agriculture. The Ministry is ready to contribute to the creation of appropriate tools and planning measures to overcome existing challenges,” Solomon Pavliashvili said.
 The Head of the Georgian Office of the Czech Development Agency. Jan Chernik thanked the parties for their active involvement in the project.
 “Creating such a concept is especially important for Georgia. For today, we can talk about the steps we took in the document development process. With the support of partner organizations, a very important document is laid. “I am pleased that we will get significant results through active cooperation,” said Jan Chernick.
