Batumi: The city of Batumi in the Adjara Region, Georgia is all set to host the international birdwatching festival. The festival will be held on September 19 and 22, 2024.
Adjara Tourism Department shared information about the event on its official Facebook page. It also shared a glimpse of a previous year’s event here.It is to be added that the festival is usually held every year in the initial days of September. The participants of the festival visit the region from different countries of the world.
This year bird lovers from across the globe will again hold lectures and presentations together with Georgian and foreign colleagues. At the same time many other fun and scientific excursions will be organized in areas important for bird watching. Some of Georgia’s main areas famous for bird watching include the Chorokhi Delta, Chaisuban village, Khalvasho village, Batumi seaside park, harbor, and Kolkheti National Park.
The Kolkheti National Park is a famous wetland and has the status of protected area. The 28,940 hectares park along with the wetland protected area makes the total area equal to 33710 characters.
The national park boasts a variety of bird species. On this occasion the bird lover will capture close views of beautiful birds visiting areas from different countries. An exhibition of bird pictures is also held here depicting rare and exceptional bird photographs as well.
The event will witness the participation of birdlovers in seminar to share ideas for bird protection and the preservation of rare species of birds.Climate change in recent years has affected the bird population on a large scale. This has also affected the birds’ seasonal migration from one place to another.
People usually began to visit many days before the event. Here they also got the opportunity to see beautiful sites including parks, lakes, valleys, etc. The Batumi city administration is expecting a huge footfall of bird lovers again this year and is making every effort to ensure the successful organization of the event.
