The CAREC (Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program) invited interested persons and groups to apply for the distribution of the Gender Climate Award. Georgia is a member of the CEREC along with ten other countries.
The Asian Development Bank started the CEREC program in 1997. The main objective behind its creation was to promote economic cooperation among the countries of Central Asia, Transnascaucasia, and South Asia. The CEREC gender climate award 2024 will recognize individuals and organizations for their unique contributions to gender equality with reference to  climate resilience, adaptation, and mitigation within the CEREC region’s countries.
To participate in the competition  a person must be a citizen of any member country of the program. These countries include Azerbaijan, People’s Republic of China, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
Organizations working in any of the member countries can also apply for the competition. The nomination of the interested person can be self-made or from another person. The jury will select the winner in several categories. The winner must fulfill some eligibility criteria.
These criteria will include the impact of the individual or organization’s work and the innovative ideas adopted by participants. Other aspects that will be evaluated to select the winner include leadership, advocacy, partnership, collaboration, and a multisector approach.
The winner will be eligible for the following benefits:
- International media exposure
- Engagement in leadership and other program for mentorships
- They will also get an invitation to the CAREC women’s business forum and other high-profile events, workshops, and training, etc
The nomination process will began on July 1 and ended on August 15. Thereafter  from August 26 to September 8, the nominee will be shortlisted and will receive a reference letter also.
The final evaluation will take place between 9 September to 6 October 2024. Furthermore  the notification of the selected persons will be published from October 7 to November 6.
