Daily COVID-19 Updates: Georgia reports 107 new cases, 6 deaths

Georgia: The Georgian Health Ministry said the country has reported 107 new cases of COVID-19, with 281 recoveries and six fatalities in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past week stands at 1.94 per cent.

There are currently 3,059 active cases of Coronavirus all over the country. 

Moreover, as per the figures given by the Georgian health department, a total of 5,489 tests were conducted throughout the country within the last 24 hours, out of which 3,743 were rapid antigen tests, and the remaining 1,746 were PCR tests.

Since February 26, 2020, the country has recorded a total of 1,651,577 cases of Coronavirus. Out of which, 1,631,715 patients have recovered, while 16,777 people have succumbed to it.

The new 107 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in several parts of the country. 

  • Tbilisi – 58 cases
  • Adjara – 2 cases
  • Imereti – 12 cases
  • Kvemo Kartli – 5 cases
  • Shida Kartli – 4 cases
  • Guria – 10 cases
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 7 cases
  • Kakheti – 6 cases
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 1 cases
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti – 2 cases
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 0 cases

Irakli Garibashvili, Georgia’s Prime Minister, said the present epidemiological situation signalled the end of the country’s crisis, stressing that the government’s decision to prohibit the usage of green permits in February was part of effective management, as a consequence of which “everything stabilised.”

Furthermore, there are currently 412 patients who are undergoing treatment in hospitals, while 2,647 people are undergoing treatment at home and by consulting their family doctors. There are 102 individuals who are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.

As many as 1,362,749 people have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,258,718 individuals have been fully vaccinated, amounting to 43.8 % of the country’s adult population.

A total of 244,518 individuals have received booster shots or 3rd dose of the vaccine. 

As of today, around 33.9% of the population of Georgia has been fully vaccinated, accounting for 12.6L individuals. The country has administered approximately 29.4L doses of anti-coronavirus vaccines.
