Georgia: The Chairman of the Georgian Competition and Consumer Protection Agency (GCCA), Irakli Lekvinadze, is on a working visit to Edinburgh on a special invitation from the International Competition Network (ICN) and the United Kingdom Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).
The 24th ICN conference will be held in Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, organized by the International Competition Network (ICN) and the United Kingdom Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). About 500 guests attended the event. Including ICN members, heads of competition organizations from different countries, representatives of NGOs, and experts in the field.
The conference was opened – Andreas Mundt, President of the International Competition Network (ICN), Head of the German Federal Competition Authority (Bundeskartellamt), and Sara Cardel, Executive Director of the British Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). Andrew Ferguson, Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), made a special welcome speech.
During the conference, the World Bank Group and International Competition Network ICN award ceremony for the best cases and solutions in competition advocacy will be held, where the Georgian Competition and Consumer Protection Agency (GCCA) is presented on several nominations.
It is important to note that worldwide, ICN unites competition agencies from 160 countries. The Annual Conference is a unique opportunity to strengthen international cooperation between countries and improve competition policy enforcement mechanisms, where participants, in an extended dialogue format, discuss future measures, outcomes, achievements, and existing challenges required for effective implementation of competition policy.
The event is planned to participate in various panels and discussions between the GCCA Chairman, Irakli Lekvinadze, and members of the delegation – Vice Chairman, Levan Kalandadze, and Head of Strategic Markets Monitoring Department, Giorgi Kedelidze.
Within the framework of the working visit, to strengthen cooperation, a memorandum of understanding is planned between the Georgian Competition and Consumer Protection Agency and the Montenegro Competition Protection Agency.
