Tbilisi: World Patient Safety Day was successfully celebrated in Georgia on Tuesday. Every year September 17 is celebrated as the World Patient Safety Day with the aim of raising awareness on the importance of timely diagnosis.
The Georgian Ministry of Health celebrated this special day in Georgia as well. The participants discussed the challenges in this direction and the measures to overcome these challenges. It is worth noting that the event dedicated to World Patient Safety Day was opened by Mikheil Sarjveladze, the minister of health.
According to Georgian Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze to improve patient safety it is important to cooperate with policymakers and the healthcare sector for timely and better diagnosis of serious patients as well.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry has taken many initiatives in past years to share its recommendations for field associations and higher education to improve patient safety.
During his speech at the event Mikheil Sarjveladze noted that the Ministry will actively discuss and process information discussed at the event or at a later stage with the involvement of all stakeholders associated with the health sectors.
Thomas Rubal presented the World Health Care Organization’s visions and opinions to improve patient safety at the meeting. He is the advisor of the World Health Organization’s Georgian representation on health policy.
The meeting continued in question-answer mode and experts answered questions raised by the attendees of the event.
The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Health Tea Giorgadze and Irine Tsakadze, Chairman of the Parliament’s Committee on Health and Social Affairs Zaza Lominadze his deputies Vladimir Kakhadze and Zaal Mikeladze.
At the same time it also had representatives from the healthcare sector, field associations, the Ministry of Health, and higher education.
Notably the World Health Organization established World Patient Safety Day in 2019. Its goal is to promote patient safety and raise public awareness. It is worth noting that worldwide September 17’s key message is “Improving diagnostics for patient safety ” emphasizing the critical importance of accurate and timely diagnostics.
