During the annual spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, Minister of Finance Lasha Khutsishvili and President of the National Bank Natia Turnava met with Jihad Azuri, Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The Ministry of Finance of Georgia shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on April 15, 2026, Wednesday. The Georgian Ministry also shared a small note providing information about the topic discussed at the meeting.
The parties talked about the fruitful cooperation between Georgia and the International Monetary Fund. Director Jihad Azuri noted the sustainability and health of Georgia’s macroeconomic and fiscal parameters and forecasts, which are important factors in the wake of current global challenges.
According to the information provided by the Ministry, it should be noted that the conversation touched upon trends and forecasts of global and regional economic development.
During the meeting, attention was paid to fiscal and monetary policy issues of the country, including issues highlighted within the work of the Article IV Consultations Mission.
He emphasized the importance of ongoing structural reforms, including matching positions in part of government enterprise reform. The parties reaffirmed the special importance and role of existing close cooperation for the effective management of the country’s fiscal and monetary policy.
