In Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament and a number of majoritarian MPs of the country’s legislative body brought gifts to the Ukrainian children who took admission to Georgian public schools on Saturday.
The Georgian Parliament hosted a reception for the kids who arrived in Georgia from Ukraine earlier today. Papuashvili addressed the students, their parents, and teachers during the reception, expressing hope they would have a “quality and interesting time” in Georgia.
“I congratulate you for joining Georgian public schools. Now you are in the parliament building as schoolgoing children, and I am sure you will have a chance to visit again,” Papuashvili said.
Moreover, Vice Speaker David Sergeenko also addressed the guests, saying the MPs would try to give their best to assure the Ukrainian children would have an “unforgettable” time in Georgia.
Sergeenko also went on to say, ” I genuinely believe that your time in Georgia will be full of positive emotions and new friendships. We will do everything possible to ensure that the period you spend in Georgia is special and unforgettable.”
The initiative to assist Ukrainian children was taken by the Ministry of Education and Science on Friday, March 18, that primary school kids affected by the current war in Ukraine will be enrolled in public and private schools in a simplified manner throughout Georgia.
The Education Ministry also said earlier that the Ukrainian-language sections would be opened as educational venues based in Tbilisi for students from Ukraine who have to stay in the capital during the turmoil in their native country.
