The Professional Training Program “Forest Inventory and Taxation ” was started in Georgia. The program will be implemented by the Center for Environmental Information and Education with the due cooperation of the National Forest Agency.
There will also be support from the Professional Skills Agency the European Union and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to the program.
According to the available information the program is free of charge. Students and people with bachelor’s degrees in forestry can participate. For registration people interested in getting additional information can visit the official website of the Environmental Information and Education Center of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture.
The registration process will end on 1 April 2024. The program will start imparting theoretical and practical training on April 10, 2024. The interested candidates who will get training after successful completion will receive a state-recognized certificate and will be employed in the National Forest Agency.
The ministry officials stated that the program’s main aim is to train forest taxation specialists (forest taxation) who will conduct forest inventory fieldwork. They also added that after completion of the course they will be able to:
1. To carry out measuring and estimating works in the forest.
2. Data collection, processing, reflecting and analysis in electronic programs.
3. Participate in planning forest events ( like forest use, forest maintenance-restoration, and others) and preparing forest management plans.
It is also to be added that the stages of forest inventory include working with cartographic materials, collecting data on quantitative and qualitative indicators of forest in field conditions, and analyzing, assigning, and creating forest-agricultural measures.
The Ministry official said that more information can be obtained by visiting the official website. They advised that interested people should immediately register as the server may go down on the last registration day.
The total duration of the program will be 12 weeks and under the theoretical part the program participants will undergo theoretical training at the Environmental Information and Education Center. This will be held for three days a week.
Similarly after completing the theoretical part the trainees will have to appear in an exam for the first determinative assessment. On the other hand in the practical part the participants will undergo training in the forests under the management of the National Forestry Agency for 10 days in Mtskheti municipality and Bakuriani.
After 12 weeks of competition the trainees will be given a final assessment and based on their performance in this final assessment they will receive a certificate recognised by the state.
