The employees of the National Forest Agency, in June this year, revealed 72 violations of the law, of which 57 were cases of illegal logging, including transportation.
The National Forestry Agency of Georgia shared the details of the revealed violations on its official Facebook Page on July 7, 2026, Tuesday. The Georgian Agency also shared glimpses of the illegal logging, including transportation, along with it.                       Â
In total, 39 cubic meters of various types of illegally obtained timber were removed, which were to be established in the “busy yards” of the State Agency. Throughout the country, 8 facts of illegal logging of trees have been reported in Imereti, 15 in Samtskhe-Javakheti, 3 in Racha-Lechkhumi in Lower Svaneti, 10 in Lower Kartli region, 12 in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 5 in Guria, 8 in Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti region, 8 in Kakheti, and 3 in Shida Kartli region.
It is noted that 5 facts of the violations contain criminal offenses. Accordingly, the materials for further investigation have been sent to the relevant investigative authorities.
Also, 14 facts of self-detention of state forest are revealed: in Imereti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Kakheti and Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti regions. 1 unregistered saw has also been detected in the region of Mtskheta-Mtianeti.
Nationwide, by the employees of the National Forest Agency, in the first six months, 391 facts of illegal logging of trees have been revealed.

The agency continues to strengthen monitoring and enforcement activities across the country to prevent illegal logging and protect Georgia’s forest resources. Regular inspections and patrols are being carried out to identify violations and ensure sustainable forest management.
