Georgia: South Korean Ambassador Meets Representative of Agriculture Ministry

Recently, a meeting was held between the Ambassador of South Korea and the Representative of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of the Republic of Georgia. The South Korean Ambassador Visited the Ministry’s Office. They discussed many issues ranging from modern techniques in agriculture to boosting the import-export between both countries.

South Korean Ambassador Lee Yoon-Yong was accompanied by the director of KOTRA(Korea Trade and Investment Agency).
The main areas of discussion that were discussed by both sides included a free trade agreement and exports of agro-food products from each country. Other important issues like ways to share the experience for adopting modern technology in the agriculture sector and prospects of the KOTRA( South Korea Trade and Investment Agency ) were discussed by both parties.

Both sides during the meeting expressed hope that A free trade agreement would strengthen the trade relations between Georgia and South Korea.

It is to be specifically mentioned that, on talking agro-food products, special attention was focused on the increased rates of wine import and exports, exports of mineral water, exports of nuts, etc.

Notably, Georgia is one of the top five nuts-exporting countries in the world.

As the advancement of technology has changed the face of every sector, the agriculture sector also witnessed the adoption of modern and advanced technology. The meeting discussed the sharing of agriculture-related technology between both countries.

South Korean Ambassador said that South Korea is ready to share the modern and latest-day technology to enhance the productivity of the agriculture sector of Georgia.

Environmental Cooperation was discussed to increase the Cooperation among both countries during the meeting.
It is worth mentioning that under the framework of the First International Conference on the Protected Areas, special fire trucks have been handed over to Georgia By the National Park Administration of South Korea. These fire trucks are equipped with the latest fire-controlling equipment.

At last, the South Korean Ambassador thanked the official of the agriculture ministry for the grand and warm reception.
