Georgia: Baia Kvitsiani, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia took part in the 7th annual plenary session of the Organizing Committee of the Department of Education of the Council of Europe (CDEDU). The meeting was held in Strasbourg on 21 March 2025.
During the meeting, Minister Kvitsiani provided a comprehensive report to the members of the Organizing Committee on the various activities that were initiated by Georgia on the implementation of the European Refugees Passport (EQPR).
In addition, the participants at the session reviewed the primary focuses of the “Education Strategy 2030” of the Council of Europe, which encompassed democratic and civic education, social responsibility of education as well as digitalization.
The Organizing Committee of the Department of Education of the Council of Europe dealt with the problem of the deeper examination of the contribution of artificial intelligence to the process of qualification recognition.
Moreover, the committee had a positive reaction in regard to the formation of an expert committee and generally supported the draft recommendations on “Artificial Intelligence Literacy” and “Teaching History in the Digital Age” for the use of AI in education.
The participants further agreed on the need to develop a framework document for the European assessment of educational technologies (EdTechs).
The delegates of the committee analyzed the undertaking of peace education in both formal and informal settings in conjunction with the aid of the Youth Organizing Committee of the Council of Europe during the plenary session.
In the plenary discussion, the Minister Baia Kvitsiani also paid special attention to the issues concerning peace education and the importance of cooperation with the Member States of the European Council in developing innovative teaching materials and methodologies.
It is to be noted that the delegates of the Committee will remain committed to work on monitoring the process of preparation documents in accordance with the priorities of the Council of Europe’s Education Strategy until the next plenary session of the Organizing Committee.
