Georgia: Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Tengiz Nasaridze, Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Mzia Giorgobian and State Trustee of Imereti Region Zviad Shalamberidze inspected the cold storage facility created by “Vatagi” company with the financial support of the “Pilot Regions Integrated Development Program” of the European Union.
Across the country, 48 enterprises were financed in 4 pilot regions. Among them are both new and retooled enterprises.
The investment from the state reaches 20 million GEL. EU-Georgia’s “Integrated Development Programme of Pilot Regions” and other similar programmes are important contributors to socio-economic success in regions, job creation, and increasing the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises.

“Vathag” company invested 3 million GEL for the construction of a cold storage facility equipped with modern standards, including the amount of the loan received within the framework of the “Pilot Regions Integrated Development Programme” amounting to 640,000 laria Within the framework of the programme, the financing of the Rural Development Agency amounts to 384,000 GEL.
The cold storage facility has the capacity to store 250 tons of dairy products. The company employs 60 locals. The products are intended for sale in the local market.
“We had the opportunity to see how one of the private businesses works, which benefited from the EU-Georgia “Integrated Development Program of Pilot Regions”. It should be noted that within this program 400 The business was financed, and what is most important, it was an integrated approach, which meant not only the support of private business but also the arrangement of road infrastructure”, said Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Mzia Giorgobian.
The EU-Georgia “Pilot Regions Integrated Development Program” is managed by the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure and implemented by the Rural Development Agency of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture in four pilot regions of Georgia – Imereti, Kakheti, Guria and Racha-Lechkhum-Kvemo Svaneti.
The purpose of the third component of the programme is to promote small and medium-sized businesses, which means the creation of new enterprises, and the expansion or retooling of existing enterprises.
