Giorgi Dokhturishvili ,the State Governor of Kvemo Kartli met with the head of the Kvemo Kartli Regional Center of the National Agency for military conscription and recruitment Lieutenant Colonel Ilia Chanadiri.
Giorgi Dokhturishvili during this fruitful meeting discussed changes related to the national military service of conscripts to attack maximum youth for defence services.
This significant and important working meeting was held at the Governor’s administration, which was attended by his deputy Nika Kobakhidze. At the same time the mayors of all seven municipalities of the region, the chairmen of the Sakrebulo, the Sergeant of the Kvemo Kartli regional center of the National Agency for Military conscription and recruitment attended this meeting.
On the other hand, senior sergeant Irakli Khvedelidze and Chief Specialist Teimuraz Javakhishvili were also present in this meeting to discusses changes of national defence code of Georgia.
According to the new and changed Défense Code of Georgia, from 2025 the selection of conscripts for the national military Service will be carried out on the basis of the annual random selection principle. National Military Service of conscripts will be now possible only within the system of the Ministry of Défense of Georgia.
There will be the following terms and remuneration of national military service of conscripts:
- For service in a combat unit − for a period of 6 months – 765 GEL will be given to a conscripts
- For service in a combat support and combat support unit − for a period of 8 months – 635 GEL
- For service in a junior command position and in a predetermined specialty for a period of 11 months – 1275 GEL for sergeants and 1530 GEL for officers.
After completing the 11-month service, the above-mentioned individuals will be enrolled in the reserve unite of Georgian army, A person who voluntarily enlists in the national military service will be given a 30 percent increase in the salary established for the National Military Service.
Giorgi Dokhturishvili while addressing attendees expressed hopes that new changed rules will play major and positive role to attract maximum number of youth to join defence forces.
