In Telavi, in the Embassy Hall of King Erekle II’s Palace, a national scientific conference – “Biographical Strokes of Erekle II: Narrative and Historical Reality” was held, in which the Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, took part.
The purpose of the conference was to introduce the public to the birth date of King Erekle II, to introduce new historical facts, and to adopt a resolution.
Givi Mikanadze noted, “The conference unites historians, researchers, and the scientific community around a common goal and enables them to discuss issues related to the achievement of Erekle II based on historical facts and analytical research.”
This will be a matter of national importance because the development of a country begins with respecting one’s own history. We must appreciate the legacy of our ancestors and pass on valuable knowledge and cherished values to future generations.
Erekle II is a prominent historical figure of our country who made a significant contribution to the strengthening and rebuilding of our homeland. Today is dedicated to remembering once again the Georgian King’s great death and to promoting the scientific understanding of his heritage in the context of the modern era,” said Givi Mikanadze.
Minister of Environment and Agriculture David Songulashvili, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth Zviad Gabisonia, Deputy Minister of Culture Giorgi Mirtskulava, State Trustee in Kakheti region Platon Kalmakhelidze, Metropolitan David of Abba Alaverde, Rector of Tbilisi State University Jaba Samushia, Georgia Members of Parliament and local government representatives.
They came out with different reports at the scientific conference: Professor Tengiz Simashvili of Telavi State University named after Yakob Gogebashvili; Chief Scientist-Fellow of the National Center for Manuscripts of Georgia Apollon Tabuashvili; Historian, Scientist-Folker Vladimir Kekelidze of the National Center of Manuscripts named after Korneli Kekelidze; Doctor of History, SAQ Davit Javakhishvili, specialist of the National Agency for Protection of Cultural Heritage of Rtvelo.
At the end of the conference, a scientific resolution was signed by Shalva Chkaduwa, the rector of Telavi State University, and Zaza Abashidze, acting director of the National Center for Manuscripts named after Corneli Kekelidze.
