Within the framework of the large-scale student project – Studfest, a run was held in the capital, in which the Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, and the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, took part.
The sporting activity, which was held for the first time this year, started from the vicinity of Vake Park and ended at Freedom Square.
“The final round of sporting events took place today as part of the student festival – the marathon from Wake Park to Freedom Square, in which I myself participated.” Welcome to the students’ festival. In recent years, this event has been systematically organized, and there are many young people involved. Universities throughout Georgia are participating, which is very good. I also welcome the promotion of healthy living. With our daily steps, of course, we should contribute to further development of this direction. I urge you all to promote a healthy lifestyle, – said Kakha Kaladze, the mayor of Tbilisi.
Athletes and representatives of different professions participated in the run. At the end of the marathon, outstanding participants of the sports activity appeared, who were awarded symbolic prizes. The project serves to promote a healthy lifestyle in the city and to involve citizens in mass sports.
The student festival, which has already taken on a traditional face, is focused on culture, education, and sports, and brings together more than 20,000 students from more than 40 higher education institutions.
The festival is being held with the support of Tbilisi City Hall, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, and organized by the Association of Student Organizations.
The winner of the year’s higher education title will go to the university whose students will win the most competitions. All winners will be awarded on June 21, at the solemn closing of the festival.
