Georgia’s Ministry of culture and sports is all set to support the successful organization of the 13th“Tbilisi Marathon.” The marathon will be held on September 22, Sunday by the company namely “Honeywell Cement,” which is main organier of event with the support of the ministry.
The organizers of the “Tbilisi Marathon” held a press conference recently. Aleksandre Maisuradze, Head of the Sports Department of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia and Irakli Ghilava Head of the City Service of Culture, Education, Sports and Youth Affairs of Tbilisi City Hall attended the press conference
Viktor Tsilosani Head of Transport and Urban Development Agency of Tbilisi City Hall, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Greece to Georgia Deputy Georgius Varkados, General Director of “Honeywell Cement” Davit Jugashvili and sports director of “Tbilisi marathon” as well as the vice-president of the National Federation “Sports for All” Maya Azarashvili were also present during this press conference.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Sports has been actively supporting the “Tbilisi Marathon” for the last 13 years. The annual large-scale international run is organized by the company namely “Honeywell Cement ” and is also supported by the Tbilisi City Hall administration.
As per the organizers the main objective of the event is to promote a healthy lifestyle, charity and the development of sports tourism in the capital city of Tbilisi. The marathon will start on September 22 at 08:00. Moreover the beginning and ending points will be the same and Republic Square has been selected for this purpose.
As per the event’s officials and organizers there will be three format in which the marathon will be held. The interested runners have to register themselves prior to the schedules date. The registration fees of events will be as follows:
- 10 km run – registration fee 40 GEL
- Half marathon (21.1 km) – registration fee 50 GEL
However for for children from 5 to 10 years old and For adults from 11 to 15 years old there will be no registration fee which means they can participate in it freely. It should be noted that the money received from the registration of the “Tbilisi marathon” will be used for charity purposes only.
